Someone has pointed out to me that stuffmygirlfriendsays.com is reminiscent of thingsmyboyfriendsays.com, and hey, it is.
Oddly I first found out about that site because a friend emailed Erin and asked her if that was her blog, and was she keeping track of stupid shit I say? No, it wasn’t, but when I found out, I sent the link to the blogger site to that friend, who thought it was funny.
The idea that SMGS has been ‘ripped off’ from any other site is warrantless, and a bit insane. The internet is basically 5% people creating fresh content, 90% porn, 3% e-commerce and 2% blogs of shit that other people say.
If we were going to pay homage to anything it would be Things My Girlfriend And I Have Argued About. Which is awesome, but again, probably not the first person to try to raise a laugh by keeping a chronicle of dumb stuff someone else says.
Though it is gratifying that within 48 hours of SMGS being a Tumlr, a whole bunch of new people have an opinion on it.
In closing, I hope you’re enjoying SMGS, but if you’re not, that’s fine. You’re free to read something else.
