We recently designed a book –- a 240 page history of a 150 year-old winery. When we presented the design, the author said “It looks ok but my name needs to be bigger.”
“You think so? Ok. How about 50% bigger?”
She said that would be good.
I pulled out a pre-prepared alternative cover with her name 50% larger.
She asked me why I didn’t present that version first.
“Because no matter what size your name was, you would have wanted it larger. This is the size it should be. I designed this first, then reduced the size of your name.”
If the client moans and sighs…
