It’s amazing how swiftly your sense of dignity disappears when people help you without asking if you would like help.

A few months back, my Dad and I were doing a little father-and-son time working on my car. Except we weren’t working on it together because my Dad figured with my right hand no longer being fully operational it was just quicker to do it all himself.

And it was quicker. But quick is hardly the point of doing things with my Dad.

My Dad’s heart was completely in the right place, but in that particular moment I felt utterly pointless.
